Foreigners holding immigration documents of Indonesia can buy houses in Indonesia. according to the article 69 paragraph (1) and the article 71 letters a and b Government Regulation No. 18/2021, it states:
Article 69 Paragraph (1) GR No. 18/2021
“Foreigners who can own a residential house or a residence are Foreigners having immigration documents in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations”
Article 71 GR No. 18/2021
“A residential house or a residence that can be owned by foreigners is:
- Landed house above the land:
- Right to use on state land; or
- Right to use above: (a) Right ownership, which is controlled based on the agreement of the granting of right of use over right of ownership, with the deed/certificate from land deed official. (b) Right to manage based on land utilization agreements with the holder of this right.
- Flat houses built on plots of land:
- Right to use or to build on a state land;
- Right to use or to build on a right to manage land; or
- Righ to use or to build on a right of ownership land.”
